The regional programme 'Strengthening capacities in the Western Balkans countries to address environmental problems through remediation of high priority hot spots' targeted environmental hotspots in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia FYR, Montenegro, Serbia and Kosovo improving the quality of life for citizens living in and around polluted and worked to improve local and national policy dialogue in the environmental management sector.In Albania, the programme rehabilitated the Bajza railway station, removing 480 tons of hazardous chemicals that directly effected the health of citizens living in and around the polluted area located at the shore of Shkodra Lake.
